Hampshire Recorder Sinfonia

Welcome

The Hampshire Recorder Sinfonia is one of six recorder orchestras that rehearse and perform regularly in the UK. We consist of some 20-30 of the finest recorder players in the county, playing instruments ranging in size from the 9-inch sopranino to the 6-foot Contrabass.
The HRS currently meets every Wednesday evening at the Bedhampton Arts Centre under the leadership of our musical director and conductor, Christopher Burgess. The HRS perform three or four concerts per year, including our traditional Christmas concert held in our home town of Havant.

Rehearsals in Bedhampton

As from 14 September 2005, HRS rehearsals have moved to Bedhampton Arts Centre (run by Havant Arts Active) and are continuing to be held on Wednesday evenings.

HRS play from 7:30pm to 9:00pm

HRS records its third CD

Following the success of our first two CDs recorded in 1997 and 2001, we spent another long weekend in September 2006, this time at St. Vincent's College in Gosport, recording our third CD.  Our latest recording has been made possible by a generous grant from the Elgar Society.
The CD has a theme "Parodies & Paraphrases" and copies have been selling well. Details about the CD are now available and can be viewed under the recordings link.

You can listen to some samples taken from our CDs - have a listen and order copies to help William reclaim his spare room!!!
We are down to our last box containing 25 of our first CDs from 1997, if you still don't have "Hampshire Recorder Sinfonia", buy it now whilst it's still available.
